Anjuna jungle view from our room

FROM ANJUNA TO PANAJI – GOA

The hotel in Anjuna offered a modest and clean room but what we liked the most is the morning cold and hot buffet that included eggs, omelet, cheese, beans, and a dozen of samosa varieties that kept us going throughout the day and fueled us with the needed level of calories and energy.

Since we had almost one-hour drive from Anjuna to Panaji we took our time at the hotel and sipped on some cold fresh pineapple juice at the rooftop pool and bar, while we laid under the sun to get some tan. To be honest, we just wanted to get rid of the farmers tan that we got on day 1.

At checkout, we took a taxi to Panaji that dropped us right next to our accommodation. We had booked “Sandalwood Hotel & Spa” for the rest of our stay in Goa via Booking.com.

Located in the midst of palm and other tall mango trees, the hotel is a 5-minute walk from a secluded private beach that offered some water activities. It is ideal for travelers searching for quiet and calm evenings away from the city noise.

Being surrounded by all these trees, it felt as if we were in the middle of a jungle. Many animals such as monkeys, squirrels, and lizards, and birds such as black crows along with other variety new to us, took these trees as their natural habitat. For almost an hour, these animals played their loudest symphonies at sunrises and sunsets on a daily basis. To us Middle Easterners, precisely from Lebanon, it was one of the eccentric things we could have heard in all our life. It was pure nature in all its glory!

In the evening we took a taxi to a nearby town and rambled for the rest of the day in one of the busiest parts of Panaji. People there were so friendly and helpful, we made a few funny acquaintances along our way. At night we came back to the hotel by Tuk-tuk and spend the rest of the evening at the beach listening to the waves crashing on the shore in a distance while enjoying a few bottles of Budweiser.
