9.Mount Nebo:
At approximately 710 m (2,330 ft) above sea level, Mount Nebo is the place where Moses was granted view of the Promised Land (the Holy Land). Other than the view of the Promised Land, Mount Nebo is known for the Moses Memorial Church (the basilica) and its mosaics, the museum, the bronze cross memorial.
Recommendations for Mount Nebo:
- You can reach Mount Nebo by going through the Dead Sea Madaba road.
- Going to Mount Nebo by car will take around an hour from Amman.
- There are toilets next to the museum.
- Near Mount Nebo, around 10 minutes by car, you can find Church of SS Lot and Procopius that houses a remarkable mosaic that portrays the daily life that included fishing, winemaking, agriculture, etc.
- The church is said to overlook the valley which Lot and his people crossed while escaping the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah on God’s hands. During his flight to the mountains Lot’s wife was transformed to a pillar of salt for looking back and not following God’s instructions.
