8.Amman Old City Downtown:
If you want to experience Amman’s old city downtown like a local, we recommend that you visit in by foot. Your tour can include the Citadel and Roman Theater downtown Amman, the National Archaeological Museum, the fruits and vegetable market, lunch or at least some quick bites of falafel and hummus at Hashem restaurant, known as King Abdullah II’s favorite place to eat. You may walk further to the Temple of Hercules and you can end your day at the ecofriendly Wild Jordan River Café overlooking downtown Amman.
Recommendations for Amman Old City Downtown:
- Downtown Amman is a great place to buy traditional Jordanian clothes, cotton clothes, fruits and vegetables and where you can immerse yourself with the true Amman life.
- If you like local spices, oils and incense, this is the best place to buy these.
- Make sure to dress appropriately for the city. A t-shirt and pants for both men and women are recommended especially if you look foreign to avoid unnecessary sometimes embarrassing situations.
