3.The Dead Sea:
One of the things that we recommend you do before you die, is float in the Dead Sea. Yes, float! You read that right! The Dead Sea is the lowest point in the world that is 423 m (1,388 ft) below sea level and is one of the saltiest seas around the world with 31% salt. It is mostly known for its mineral properties and the spas around it. It would be a shame for anyone to visit Jordan and miss experiencing floating in the Dead Sea.
The Dead Sea Recommendations:
- The Dead Sea is found in Wadi Mujib region and is around one hour South West of Amman.
- You cannot swim in the sea unless you enter through a hotel or resort; there are plenty of options to suit your needs.
- One day is enough for you to experience floating on water.
- Don’t even try to swim below the water because your eyes will burn from all the saltiness and until you reach potable water you will feel dead blind.
- Do not shave on the same day as you swim in the sea unless you want to feel the burning heat of hell on your skin.
- If you have any wound, expect it to burn as you go in the sea (even though, some say that it will heal after all the burning, it’s up to you to decide to risk it or not).
- The dead sea is very warm during the summer but it could reach a temperatures of 5°C in cold winter season. We tried swimming in the Dead Sea once during winter when it was at its lowest temperatures, we wouldn’t recommend it unless you like extreme sensations.
- Make sure to indulge yourself with a black mud bath for it will fortify your skin with healthy minerals that are only found in the Dead Sea.
- Buy some mud and salts from the Dead Sea, they truly contain a lot of minerals important for the body.
