Cactus

TOP TEN SITES TO VISIT WHEN YOU ARE IN PHOENIX, ARIZONA FOR THE FIRST TIME

2- Desert Botanical Garden: you might ask yourself what type of garden is located in the middle of a desert dry land? Will I see other than cacti and spiky plants? You will be surprised by the multitude of plants from all shapes and colors available inside this well-maintained botanical garden. You will quickly realize that it is not just any garden with cacti, it is a research center providing a space to educate visitors from all over the world on the importance of these resilient plants and how to protect and preserve the desert’s natural beauty. There are five trails available and each of them has its own natural character.

One spectacular activity you should not miss out on is the butterfly release. You enter the butterfly sanctuary and you will be given an envelope with a butterfly to release. You will also spend some time mesmerized with all the different types and colors of butterflies available.

You can easily spend up to 4 hours walking the paved and graveled paths while checking the information labels on each of the plants. Bring lots of water, and wear comfortable shoes. There’s a cafeteria beside the garden where you can get some snacks just in case you get hungry. There’s barely any shade, so definitely wear sunscreen and a hat!
