TOP TEN SITES TO VISIT WHEN YOU ARE IN PHOENIX, ARIZONA FOR THE FIRST TIME

3- Tortilla Flat: Ever thought of a city with a population of 6 people?! I have but I didn’t think it exists! So, Tortilla Flat is Arizona’s smallest official community having a U.S. Post Office and voter’s precinct (according to the Gross Management Department of Arizona’s main U.S. Post Office). This city is located 85 km (52.8 miles) from Phoenix city center a maximum of 1.5 hour ride. The city boomed in the mid-to-late 19th century when the Theodore Roosevelt Dam was being built, then was badly damaged by a flood in 1942 where almost all its resident moved away. In 1998, Alvin and Pam Ross bought the town and built a store there. We usually stop there to marvel upon the city with 6 residents and to enjoy an ice cream or two. Enjoy your ride across the Apache trail and the best part of it is where you drive by the Canyon Lake. Tortilla Flat is close to the Superstition Mountain and can be visited during the same day.

Here are the top ten sites that we visited during our stay in Phoenix which we enjoyed the most and we recommend.

  1. Phoenix zoo
  2. Desert Botanical Garden
  3. Tortilla Flat
  4. Hiking on the Superstition Mountains
  5. Goldfield Ghost Town
  6. The Grand Canyon
  7. Sedona
  8. Lake Powell
  9. The Horse Shoe Bend
  10. Hoover Dam
