TOP TEN SITES TO VISIT WHEN YOU ARE IN PHOENIX, ARIZONA FOR THE FIRST TIME

6- The Grand Canyon, although some might consider it a tiresome 400 km (248.5 miles) ride, we enjoyed the scenic road trip. With a couple of pitt stops on the road you can reach the Grand Canyon in 5 to 6 hours from Phoenix. Considered as one of the natural 7 wonders of the world and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Grand Canyon is a 2-billion-year carved canyon by the Colorado River that is 446 km (277 miles) long and 29 km (18 miles) wide with a depth of over 1,857 m (6,093 ft). To enjoy the Grand Canyon, you can visit the Grand Canyon National Park and enjoy its North or South Rims with their different mesmerizing viewpoints. Here are a few of the best viewpoints names. Hermits Rest Transfer, Powell Point, Hopi Point, Pipe Creek Vista, Duck on a Rock, Grandview point, Desert View Watchtower and Mather Point. Our favorite viewpoint is the desert view from the South Rim that houses the Watchtower.

We could not get enough of the sunset there that offer splendid colors as the sun sets on the Colorado River and adjacent canyons. Entering the South Rim takes around 3 hours and a half from Phoenix. There are several hotels at the entrance of the national park or inside it. There is a visitor center with several restaurants and souvenir shops. If you are a hiker, don’t miss the chance to book a hiking trip down the Colorado River and enjoy the canyon from a unique perspective. Some people even spend days and weeks moving between different campsite and rafting in the Colorado River.
